Inspiration
Pushpin toys are a perfect analogue for capturing 3d information. Simply press an object into the pins and they form around its shape. The question asked here is can this data input be captured and if so, can it then be output?
Artist notes
- An interesting thing happens when you arrange data in this way in that a polarisation of matter is forced.
- The datum or ‘fulcrum’ that registers the geometry in place also describes time.
Technical information
- Fulcrum i1 uses 2371 sticks & i2 uses 3967 sticks.
- Each stick contains 3 data points.
- The sculpture resolution is about 4 lines per inch.
